Significant matters in relation to privacy we have acted on include

  • Drafting the Australian Medical Association (NSW) Limited’s Privacy Kit for medical practitioners. The Kit was introduced to assist medical practitioners to comply with their obligations under the amendments to the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) in 2001. 
  • Preparing and implementing AMA (NSW)’s state wide education campaign in 2001 in the lead up to the commencement of the amendments to the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
  • Advising and assisting medical practitioners, health organisations and medical indemnity insurers in relation to Freedom of Information legislation – both State and Federal, and regularly assisting those in the health industry to utilise this means of accessing information from government bodies and instrumentalities.
