Rola Azzi

Rola joined TressCox in October 2010 as a Senior Associate in the Property group with over five years of commercial property experience. Her experience includes strata and community title development and sales, residential developments, acquisition and disposal of rural properties, commercial and industrial leasing and due diligence in relation to the acquisition of development sites. Rola provides advice in various areas which include development titling issues, off the plan contracts, foreign investment acquisitions and easements.

Leonie Beyers

Corporate and Commercial Services Division, Sydney

Leonie began her legal career as a paralegal in 2000 and was admitted to practice in 2005. She joined TressCox in 2007 and is now a senior associate specialising in health law. Leonie represents medical professionals, medical defence organisations, healthcare facilities and government departments.

Leonie’s main area of practice is in the defence of medical negligence litigation which involves investigating and analysing complex issues relating to liability and damages, providing timely advice and preparing matters for trial.  Leonie has a particular interest in advocacy and regularly appears in the Supreme, District and Local Courts in NSW.

Leonie also provides advice with respect to investigation and non litigated matters across a range of health issues including risk management, legislative change, privacy and confidentiality, capacity and consent.  Leonie assists with the provision of a duty solicitor service for a large healthcare organisation.

Leonie holds a bachelor of nursing degree and has previously worked as a nurse in aged care, hospital and home nursing settings.  Leonie is a member of the board of directors of the Sydney Adventist Hospital

Anne-Maree Hunt

Anne-Maree has acted for individuals and corporations in professional indemnity, general liability and personal injury claims in a range of state and federal jurisdictions since being admitted to practice as a solicitor in 2004.

Anne-Maree’s main area of practice is health law where she acts for medical professionals in negligence, criminal, coronial, regulatory and disciplinary proceedings.  Anne-Maree’s experience in this area includes providing advice, litigation, and alternative dispute resolution services to doctors, hospitals, nursing staff and other health professionals and their insurers. 

Anne-Maree has experience across a full range of medico-legal issues including medical negligence, employment law, Medicare Australia investigations, Drugs and Poisons and Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme prescribing and investigations, medical records, registration and advertising.

Marini Mann

Litigation Services Division, Melbourne

Marini has acted in a wide range of litigation matters for insurers in the areas of public liability, personal injuries and professional indemnity.

 

Marini has considerable litigation experience with a particular focus on representing the interests of schools and professionals in the education sector and property industry as well as other professionals. Marini has acted on behalf of a number of private and government insurers acting in a range of matters including WorkCover matters, common law proceedings, statutory recovery and psychiatric injuries and nervous shock. 

From a professional indemnity perspective, Marini has significant experience acting in claims involving misrepresentation, misleading and deceptive conduct and professional negligence.

 

Marini also has experience in general commercial litigation is a skilled advocate and has appeared in both State and Federal jurisdictions as well as the High Court of Australia.

Marini has a Master of Laws from the University of Melbourne with a focus on litigation and alternative dispute resolution. Her practice is to promote the interests of her clients by identifying the best strategy for managing a dispute in an efficient and cost effective way.

Emma Talbot

Emma practices in the corporate, public sector, music, theatre, film, television and pay TV industries.

Emma provides advice in respect of the protection and exploitation of Intellectual Property including in the areas of trade marks, copyright, domain names and design laws. In particular, Emma regularly provides brand protection advice to individuals and corporations and manages various client trade mark portfolios including by assisting with infringement matters.

Emma has worked on an array of commercial transactions and has experience drafting and negotiating commercial agreements in the Entertainment, Communications & Media sectors including with regard to joint ventures, reconstructions, mergers and acquisitions, financing documentation, licensing and distribution agreements (including for the exploitation of content by digital means) and the wide range of contractual documentation required for film, television, theatre and music productions.

Emma joined TressCox Lawyers in 2003 as a summer clerk and has been a Senior Associate in our Corporate and Commercial Services Division since 2009.

Cindy Tucker

Litigation Services Division, Melbourne

Cindy is a Solicitor in our Litigation Division with considerable experience in medical defence litigation and professional indemnity claims.  Prior to working at TressCox Cindy spent ten years as National Claims Manager and medico-legal advisor for one of the largest international private hospital organisations (including the businesses of radiology and pathology) and as Claims Manager for a major international insurer/broker.  In these roles Cindy gained experience working with international and domestic insurers and re-insurers.  In addition to her law degree, Cindy holds a Bachelor of Science Honours, with a particular focus on health science.

A significant part of Cindy's practice is advising and representing medical professionals and hospitals who are the subject of negligence claims, disciplinary proceedings and coronial inquests.  Cindy has experience across a range of medico-legal issues including medical negligence, Drugs and Poisons and Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme prescribing and investigations, medical records, registration, advertising and College appeals. 

Cindy's combination of education and experience allows her to provide practical assistance to both corporate and individual health clients.

Sarah Wheeler

Litigation Services Division, Sydney

Sarah practices in the Litigation Services Division of TressCox.

Sarah’s clients include insurers; large and small corporate entities; government regulators; and individuals. 

Sarah’s main area of practice concerns general and professional indemnity insurance claims which involve advising insurers and professionals on all aspects of insurance, litigation and risk management.  Sarah has also been seconded to insurers’ claims speciality teams and gained experience in insurance policy drafting.

Sarah has particular experience and expertise from managing large and complex corporate litigated and non litigated matters for a range of clients across different industries.  In doing so, Sarah has been responsible for supervising large teams of solicitors under significant time constraints.

Sarah has appeared on behalf of her clients in a range of jurisdictions including the High Court of Australia; the Supreme Court of New South Wales; the District Court of New South Wales; the Consumer Trader and Tenancy Tribunal; and the Administrative Decisions Tribunal.  Sarah has also represented her clients at mediations.  

Sarah joined TressCox in August 2005 and was appointed senior associate in June 2010. 

Sarah holds a Bachelor of Medical Science, Bachelor of Laws (University of Technology, Sydney) and is currently undertaking her Masters of Law.  She is a member of a number of insurance industry groups including Women in Insurance NSW, Australian Professional Indemnity Group and Australian Insurance Law Association.

David Woodford

David has had experience in a wide variety of areas within corporate and commercial law. He has acted for a number of small to medium sized companies in business acquisitions and has been involved in the drafting and due diligence for asset sale and share sale agreements, preparation of ASIC and ASX compliance and corporate structuring.  David has also provided letters of advice on trusts, employment and contract law matters.

David has worked on a number of fundraising matters involving the drafting and verification of disclosure documents for IPOs, rights issues and project due diligence.  Other projects have involved corporate structuring, compliance and corporate governance. 

David has been involved in matters of intellectual property law, including the drafting of distribution, supply and licence agreements, trademark and patent applications and general intellectual property protection
